Homeowners who need to sell their existing home before buying a new home, but want to place a competitive offer on their next home without a home sale contingency in place.

What is a Backstop Offer?

A Backstop Offer is a program provided by Ribbon that places an offer on a homeowner’s existing home to remove the home sale contingency on an offer they intend to place on a new home. This allows the homeowner to place their best offer in a competitive market and win.

How does Ribbon’s Backstop Offer work?

1. Get Qualified: Fill out our qualification form to see if your client is eligible for our program
2. Backstop Offer Program Agreement: If eligible, we’ll send along our Backstop Offer Program Agreement with an offer to purchase the home at an agreed upon price. 
3. Shop Around: With our offer in place, the existing mortgage is removed from the DTI, so you can  shop around for their next home and make a strong home sale contingency-free offer to stand out to sellers. 
4. Move Out, Fix it Up & Sell: They’ll move into their new home and spend time fixing up their existing home.
5. Exercise the Backstop Offer Guarantee: If you’re not able to sell on the open market for the best possible price within 180 days, EasyKnock will purchase the existing property at our pre-agreed price.
